How dark can you tint in Nebraska?

The percentage is how much light the window lets through. A lower number is a darker tint.

What the Nebraska tint law means for you

Front side windows

The driver and front passenger windows must let in at least 35% of light, on every vehicle.

Cars

On sedans, coupes and hatchbacks, the rear side windows and the back window must let in at least 20%.

Trucks, SUVs and vans

Behind the driver, any shade is allowed.

The windshield

Tint only on the top of the windshield, down to the AS-1 line or 5 inches.

No mirror finish

Film may not be more than 35% reflective.

What is the darkest legal tint in Nebraska?

On the front side windows, 35%. On a car the rear side and back windows can go to 20%. On a truck, SUV or van you can go as dark as you like behind the driver.

Can I tint my windshield in Nebraska?

Only the top of the windshield, down to the AS-1 line or 5 inches. A clear film or rain-repellent coating on the rest is fine.

Is 20% tint legal in Nebraska?

On the rear side and back windows of a car, yes. On the front side windows, no: they must let in at least 35%.

Is 5% tint legal in Nebraska?

Only behind the driver on a truck, SUV or van.
